What is the Competency Manager?

The CM is a web-based workforce development tool designed to simplify the employee management process. With a built in LMS, the Competency Manager allows admins to upload content and training materials for employees, assign tasks, and record all activity that can be easily retrieved when facing an audit or inspection. In addition, the CM includes a calendar and notification system to avoid missing deadlines, a gap analysis tool to see what competencies are yet to be accomplished, and a risk tool that allows you to assign a risk value to each competency.

Why did we build the Competency Manager?

A few years ago we noticed a serious need in the quality market for a software solution that allowed managers to prove their employees were competent in various fields. We decided to take our already successful LMS and add additional features that would make the workforce development process much simpler. We started talking to leaders in quality management, health and safety, HR, manufacturing, healthcare, and academics and applied their feedback into our design. All of this research and planning led to the development of a tool designed to prove the capabilities of employees, alleviate stress during audits, and mitigate risks internally.

Yes! The CM was designed with regulated industries in mind and can accommodate whatever needs you have. We built the tool with customizable features to ensure your needs are met.
A competency is anything an employee is required to know in order to perform their job effectively. Competencies are completed by accomplishing the various tasks that may be associated with them; such as an online training, witnessing, manager or employee sign off, attendance, or document upload. When a user completes all the tasks, they are considered competent in that area and receive a certificate.
A user is any employee who is put into the CM. Users can be assigned competencies, be added to roles/teams/organizations, and will have access to a personalized dashboard to keep track of all their tasks.
Groups are the ways users are organized. We divided our groups into three categories: Roles, Teams, and Organizations. Roles are the specific job titles users can be assigned to. Teams are groups of people created by a commonality, such as working on a specific project together. Organization provides an easy way to map the structure of your business however it makes sense, sort employees by location, department, manager, position etc.
The CM is priced competitively to enterprise LMS’s but provides many more capabilities than traditional systems. Pricing will vary case-by-case as we recognize that every organization is different and will have specific set-up, implementation and support needs.
